Acne scars are the result of inflamed blemishes caused by skin pores congested with oil, dead cells and bacteria. As the pore engorges, a break in the follicle wall happens. If the rupture is shallow and happens near the skin’s surface, the lesions are usually minor and heals quickly. However, a deep wound in the follicle wall can cause the infected material to overflow onto the surround dermis and destroys skin tissues, creating deeper lesions. As part of the natural skin healing process, the skin forms new collagen fibers but most of the times, the skin will never look as smooth and flawless as before. As we age, acne scars become more obvious due to the loss of skin elasticity and collagen.

Acne can cause Hypertrophic and/or Atrophic scarring:
Hypertrophic or keloid scarring- As the acne injury undergoes healing, the body produces an excess of collagen, which causes a mass of raised tissue on the skin surface.
Atrophic or depressed scarring. Two common types of atrophic scarring are "Icepick" scars that appear small but leave noticeable punctures in the skin while "Boxcar" scars are depressed areas that are similar to chickenpox scars. These scars develop when the skin loses tissue.

We can help:

Treatment for acne scars depend heavily on the type of scarring that has occurred. Our ablative Fractional skin resurfacing treatment combines BOTH laser and Venus radiofrequency treatment and has been proven ideal to improve the appearance of depressed scars as it boosts collagen production for renewed, smooth skin. This treatment protocol is uniquely developed for Asian skin and works by utilizing deep skin collagen remodeling while keeping the skin’s superficial epidermal layer unharmed.

Where previously doctors had to manually subcise scar tissue, which involves painfully needles, we now possess a revolutionary needleless high-pressure air system to eliminate scar tissue deep under the skin which is painless and has almost no downtime. By using hyaluronic acid, the elimination and healing of the scar tissue is exponentially increased in combination with our fractional skin resurfacing treatment.
